A Birthday, a Steam Train and The Handmade Expo.

The Handmade Expo Market turns seven this month and this Saturday they are celebrating at their Ipswich location.

The  Ipswich market which is held at the Ipswich Turf club, Brisbane Road, Bundamba is the birth place of The Handmade Expo Market.

Seven years ago, Mother and Daughter team Miriam Bain and Liesa Gifford had a vision to start a market that was Handmade Only, to focus on the creative talents of local craftspeople and give them a place to shine, away from markets that sold imported and often inferior products. Seven years has seen the Ipswich market flourish and expand from the original site at the Ipswich showgrounds to its current location at the Turf Club.

The Handmade Expo Market has also expanded and now has a total of seven different locations throughout Queensland including Bundaberg, Cairns, Forest Hill, Morayfield, Rockhampton and Toowoomba.
The Ipswich location however is the only venue that as well as great handmade items and local produce,  can boast a working steam train right next to the market that coordinates steam train rides at the same time the market is open.

Even the sight of the train coming in with its uniformed driver and conductors and the whoosh of the steam from the funnel is an experience to top off a wonderful market day for young and old alike.

The market is held once a month on the third Saturday of the month and is on this Saturday the 15th August from 8am to 2pm.

Happy Birthday The Handmade Expo!
